Specialization is the buzz work in today's day and age. Whether you are a new or existing business, if you want your business to succeed, and are looking for a distinct advantage over competition, what you need to do is establish a niche.
So how does one go about identifying and establishing a niche? Let us address the ways we can achieve that!
1. You are your first reference
Ask yourself if you ever wondered at some point in your life, how nice or convenient it would be to have a certain kind of product or service. If such a thought ever crossed your mind, chances are, you were not the only one to think so. There would have been many others who felt the very same need. And here is your chance to do something about it! You are your first point of reference.
2. Listen to your customers
If you are targeting a specific business or have an existing business, try and listen to what the customers have to say about it. Look at different companies and what they have to offer. Look at your competitors and their target market. You are most likely to find a niche when you discover a customer problem that has not been addressed, an area of customer service that has been overlooked or simply, a requirement that no one has been able to fulfill.
3. Research an industry
If you are likely to be inclined towards a specific industry or have existing strengths in a certain domain, do a thorough research on the same. Study past, existing and upcoming market trends. Research the existing offerings in that industry, talk to targeted customer groups etc and see what more you can bring on the table! That is more likely to be your niche offering.
4. Why a niche product or service, find a niche market
If you are already catering to a certain segment and are finding it difficult to sustain your business, you might want to ideally re-visit your product or service and make some changes. But what if you did not have enough financial resources to do so? Well you do not necessarily have to think about a launching a new product or service. Why not think of a new customer segment who will benefit from using your existing portfolio? Try and see what other target markets you can cater to and re-position your products or services!
5. Think out of the box! Get creative!
Niches are not always established in existing consumer groups or by revamping products or services. Necessity is not always the mother of invention either. You do not have to wait for a need to arise to be able to cater to it. Why not fuel your imagination? Get creative, think about the future, look at what makes sense to you. If you believe in a certain out-of-the-box idea and have the ability to convince people about it, you might just have found yourself a niche!
How do niches benefit businesses? Niches address segmented customer requirements. It could be a customer problem that has not been addressed or one that has been simply ignored or overlooked. The quickest way to financial stability for your business is to find that niche and cater to it!

Find A Niche For Legitimate Internet Businesses With Long Tail Keywords To Increase Online Earning
Get Free Copy of Derek Gehl's Six Steps You Need To Follow To Guarantee The Success Of Your Online Business!
Chris Anderson, executive editor of Wired magazine, coined the phrase "The Long Tail" in 2004 to describe the key principle behind niche marketing strategies that companies like Amazon.com used to build sales in order to increase online earning for legitimate Internet businesses.
While Amazon leads the way when it comes to selling books to a wide range of niches, anybody can build successful businesses focusing on just one or two niche markets on the Internet. You don't need to go for the whole tail.
You can find a very comfortable position for yourself by choosing just one section, or sub-section, of the tail and "dominating your niche" by focusing all your marketing efforts on it and thus increase online earning.
By focusing on a single niche you will also quickly build up a reputation for yourself as an expert in your chosen field. So, what must you do to find a niche and dominate it?
First of all, find something you know a lot about, something that interests you and that you would enjoy talking to others about.
Once you have found an area of interest it is time to drill down to specifics. Being specific is one of the keys to niche marketing. The long tail is long precisely because it extends over a huge range of specific interests.
Your aim should be to find a specific niche that is small enough for you to dominate, but large enough for you to establish yourself as an expert and make a good living in for legitimate Internet businesses.
Let's say you are interested in games. "Games" is a huge category so "board games" is an improvement but you are still faced with a huge amount of choice, so narrow it down further to something more specific such as "German board games".
This would serve as your primary niche and if possible should be incorporated into the name of your website, i.e., German-Board-Games.com or germanboardgames.com. You now have the exciting choice of deciding whether to buy and sell physical games, or whether to make your own product such as an ebook about the German gaming scene, or a series of ebooks each dealing with a particular German board game.
Trading in physical products from your niche site is a good thing to do if you have time to deal with purchasing, packing and shipping as well as customer enquiries. Selling physical products to a niche also opens up sites like eBay for legitimate Internet businesses.
However, there are only so many units of product that a single person can turn around, so if you go down this route you will either have to stay small or begin hiring staff at a certain stage as your business develops and online earning start increasing.
Making your own information product will require a lot of research and writing for no immediate return. However, once you have your information product up on your site you can sell it again and again without having to worry about handling stock.
This gives legitimate Internet businesses more scope to expand without having to employ any more staff. In addition to these two options, you may want to find some niche-relevant affiliate programs to promote in order to generate extra revenue.
If you sell an ebook, having a related affiliate product to sell on the back end is an excellent strategy to improve online earning for successful businesses. Your aim is now to make your site the top destination for people looking for online information and about "German board games" or whatever your chosen niche happens to be.
As a niche marketer you don't have to compete with the marketing giants and sell to the whole world. All you want is to attract a few hundred people to your site each week and work on turning those visitors into customers and those customers into fans.
By setting up a website that pitches to a well defined niche somewhere on Chris Anderson's Long Tail you stand a much better chance of increasing online earning and dominating the chosen market for legitimate Internet businesses.
Are you tired of all the information leading nowhere and just confusing you even more? You've come to the end of the search. Just visit Francina Smit's website where you will find ideas for Legitimate Internet Businesses and answers to any questions you may have regarding online earning.

What Do They Mean by "Target Your Market" and How Does it Apply to My Business?
What Do They Mean by "Target Your Market" and How Does it Apply to My Business?

It's all about quality, not quantity! Smart marketers target certain people.
Some people online seem to think they have to interest every single person who reads their ad or sales letter. Not true! You only need to interest a select few. These are the 3% that WILL buy. These are the people you are speaking to. These few will make you all the money you need. You want buyers -- not warm bodies! The people who get on your optin list and are just looking for free info take up your valuable time and resources. But they do not return anything to you. Avoid them!
But you still have to GET to those select few. And the only way to do that is with dynamic, powerful and very skillfully done marketing materials. This could be electrifying copy writing, powerful videos, or a well done eBook that goes viral and ends up in the email boxes of the all of the 3 percenters. If there is nothing about your service or product or opportunity that excites readers, you are going to have a hard go of it. That's why you should only concern yourself with those that WILL be excited.
In my opinion, this is the only way to work with niche markets. To appeal to a particular subgroup of buyers, you must slant your communications to be more relevant to them. You want to use language that your niche market uses. You certainly don't want to use words that a software author would understand if you're writing for an audience of stay-at-home moms looking for easy recipes! If you're writing to the average American reader, you would use PhD level literary skills.
You have to believe in what you offer. People who have passion about their opportunity, product or service are more successful almost without exception.
At the same time, your customers and prospects need to have a little passion about your product, service and opportunity. Your passion must be contagious! They must sense what you sense. The reader must feel what you feel. You have to get them caught up in the intensity of your strong beliefs service, product and opportunity. This comes automatically if you have the belief, but skills are a big plus. Targeting your market correctly also wins a big head start. If they're passionate about the problem you're helping them solve, why would they NOT be excited about the solution?
What are you offering people that allows them to make a strong emotional connection to you, your company, or your product and opportunity? It doesn't matter what you provide, be it a line of vitamins, toys, or plumbing services. Your prospective customers need to feel the value of the product. They need to see and understand what your product will do for them. They must get excited!
Project your passion to your prospects and some of them will respond. The ones you want to respond will respond! And that's what counts. That's why you're only trying to get THEIR attention.
You can make a big profit catering to a select minority. You don't need to appeal to the majority of people. You just have to make a small group of people like your offer and like it very much. For example, in your business a person may pay $3000 or more for a simple direct mail package. Now, that sounds like a lot of money to some people. And it is. But if that person builds a million dollar business from that one direct mail package the $3000 is mere pocket change! So everything is relevant. You want to appeal to buyers. In most cases, price is not a factor. People will pay the price if it's valuable to them. You want your offer to appeal to people who want, and are actively seeking what you provide. Not people who really can't afford the product. People that can't afford it are not actively seeking it. But they may be curious about free info...(They'll most likely stay on your autoresponder forever)
You want to target your message to the type of people you want to respond. If you want buyers, you target buyers. Of course this tends to make the group you are aiming at smaller. But if you hit them with a personalized message they will be more responsive than if you use the so-called "shotgun" approach with a weak, broad message that ends up being of little interest to anyone. These messages are not heard above the roar of marketing that people are inundated daily.
Don't be politically correct in this. Target certain age, gender, race, religion, political views, anything that will get their attention.
Your marketing material must have a powerful punch. I see sales letters everyday written by people who mean well. They simply don't know how to get their point across. And they try to target too large an audience. If you can avoid these traps you can join the ranks of the successful marketers. Remember that the 80/20 rule applies everywhere. 80% of marketing success is had by 20% of the marketers. What are you willing to do to become one of the 20 percenters?

6 Advantages to Targeting Your Market
6 Advantages to Targeting Your Market
Get Free Copy of Derek Gehl's Six Steps You Need To Follow To Guarantee The Success Of Your Online Business! & Affiliate Marketer's Handbook
Target marketing is one of the most effective marketing strategies you can have in your marketing toolkit.
The opposite of target marketing is mass marketing. Mass marketing might make sense for Proctor & Gamble when selling detergent, but as service professionals and small business owners, appealing to a more select group is what will help you achieve maximum results when building your business.
Although "everyone" may be able to benefit from what you offer, you can't please everyone with the same services and products. Proctor & Gamble has enough of a market share and enough products in their warehouse to successfully mass market.
Targeting your market can be the result of making a proactive decision about who you want as a client, or it can be the result of analyzing your client base and focusing on a subset of that group.
Here are 6 reasons to target your market:
1 - You can easily drill down to the features and benefits of your services and products that are most important to your target market. For example, as a photographer, everyone who wants a photograph can benefit from your services. But the benefits and features most important to someone wanting photographs of their wedding versus someone wanting a business headshot will be very different.
2 - Once you know your target, it's a lot easier to communicate with them using the features and benefits that are most important. Whether communicating verbally or in writing, you can address the issues most important to your target market. The bride-to-be will want a visual record of the most important day of her life to share with her children and grandchildren. The corporate businessperson wants a photo that makes them look professional in print and online. The words you use to communicate with each of these markets will be different if they are going to be effective.
3 - Once you identify your target market, it is simpler to determine where and how you can most effectively market your services. A wedding photographer can leave business cards at bridal shops or tuxedo rental stores, or implement online advertising using "wedding photographers" as a keyword and include their geographic location.
4 - Finding your market becomes much easier when you focus on a target. You can form partnerships with other businesses that offer complimentary services. In addition to wedding planners, the photographer may want to partner with companies that specialize in wedding cakes or facilities that specialize in weddings.
5 - By targeting your market, you can be proactive about deciding whom you want to work with. If you only want to do high profile weddings, you can build your marketing around that choice. If photographing weddings drives you nuts because you have to deal with the mother of the bride and groom, the wedding planner and the bride, maybe you can specialize in "City Hall" weddings where the decision makers are likely to be just the bride and it's a smaller group. Deciding on your ideal client by targeting your market will make your work much more enjoyable.
6 - Adding additional target markets becomes easier once you have your marketing strategy in place for the first one. So if you become tired of weddings, or want to create an additional revenue stream, quickly implementing a marketing strategy for your next market becomes simple. Be careful though - you want to research the market and know exactly what your strategy will be to attract clients.
Just because a prospect doesn't fit your target market, doesn't mean you don't work with them. That's a decision you can make on a case-by-case basis. Targeting a market can make attracting clients much easier - it's the power of focus. Once you set up your process for identifying your target market, you can add other markets when you're ready.

How To Find Your Niche Market Online
How To Find Your Niche Market Online
Download Free Copy Of Start Your Own Online Business
For as long as you are creating your own success online, you will be online a lot. You will become deeply immersed in the needs and foibles of your niche market. As a result, you should choose a niche market that you enjoy being dedicating your time to. Just because you want to get rich doesn't mean you have to hate doing it. In fact, the opposite is true. You see, becoming successful online will take a lot of time. The more you enjoy the time you spend online, the more productive you will be, and the faster you will make things happen online.
What do you enjoy? What are your hobbies? Write a list of all your hobbies, of all the things you enjoy doing. This should be a list at least 20 items. Next write a list of things you really enjoy reading or learning about. This should be at least 10 items. Now, cross off half the items on the list, leaving the items you most enjoy.
Now, go online and begin to research these areas. Use the search engines. Look at the first 10 results for any keyword related to each item on your list. Are there good quality products in that field, or are there some gaps? Use Overtures's keyword inventory tool to see how often a particular keyword is searched. If a keyword is searched 50 times a month, that is probably not a great candidate for your niche. But if it is searched 500,000 times and there is not great information in the top ten results, maybe this will be a good niche for you.
Look up your potential niche area and the word 'forum' in the search engines and find some forums for your niche. Read through them. Is there a lot of current interest in your niche?
Look up the forums in Alexa. Do they have rankings of less than 100,000? Or less than 50,000? (the lower the ranking, the more traffic it gets) If a forum is ranked less than 100,000 and certainly if it is ranked less than 50,000, there is probably some solid online interest in your niche.
Don't be too concerned to decide on the perfect niche. Just one that has a lot of interest online, that interests you personally, and isn't flooded with great products. Once you finish this product, you can always create another in another niche market.

Making Money From Other Peoples Problems
Making Money From Other Peoples Problems
Download Free Copy Of Create Multiple Streams Of Online Income
Your first task is to find out which problems people are having, then to find a way to help them to solve those problems.
A very good way to find out what people consider a problem is to visit the online forums. People talk about anything and everything online. They discuss subjects that they wouldn't talk about with their best friends for the simple reason that they can remain anonymous. They look for solutions online for the very same reason. By visiting forums and taking note of what people are most concerned about you can search the Internet for products and services that will help them solve those problems. Gather the information about the topic. Write or have written for you articles about the topic. In this way you can find a topic and build a content-rich website for niche marketing that helps with the problem you have identified and that will serve the needs of people.
Go to the bookshops in your local area and take note of the kinds of non-fiction books that are stocked. You should particularly note the ones that are self-help or how-to books. If you can create the opportunity, ask the stock keeper which ones are selling the best. He's the one who knows what is being restocked most often. That failing, ask a floor salesperson the same question. Asking the bookstore owner or manager is the last option. They are more likely to be pushing the books that aren't selling well in order to make a sale. Learn by whatever means you can which self-help or how-to books are the hottest sellers.
Once you have chosen a product or service to market, researching to find the right niche for your product or service is the next most important part of beginning a niche marketing program. The things that you need to know are where they spend their time online, and what makes them tick from a personal and business point of view. There is niche marketing software out there that can help you learn these things about your potential niche market.
Why Niche Marketing is the Way to Go in Succeeding Online
Niche marketing must be designed to meet the unique needs of the targeted audience. Niche marketers must tailor their product to meet those unique needs. If, for example, you have designed a product to make poodle grooming easy enough for the untrained professional to do it, those who own poodles will be most interested in your product. Those who own Blood Hounds or cats couldn't care less. If you have written an e-book that will explain how to start and succeed at an online business, those who are looking for that information are your niche market. Those who are happy doing what they are doing are not interested at all.
When you have an idea and have done the research that has proven that there is a market for your informational product, the rest is just a matter of creating the product, building a great website and advertising it.
Niche marketing is not about trying to compete. Competition is taken out of the equation when you do niche marketing. You aren't out there in the world lined up beside or behind a million other people who are selling the same thing you are selling. You are selling to a specific audience that you have created for yourself with your website or through your opt-in email list.
The trick to making money from a content rich niche marketing website is to have a topic that helps people solve their problems, makes them feel better or look better, or supplies them with information that they need. You will need to have related products and services advertised on your site since that is where the income actually comes from. The website content is what makes people visit your site again and again. The more content rich it is will determine how often they visit and how long they stay. The longer they stay the more opportunities you have to sell to them.
What do You Need To Sell Info Products To Hot Niches?
The Overture Search Tool is a wonder to behold. There are so many tools and so much help available at the site that when you visit you will be asking why nobody has told you about this before now. The costs are small and the services are large and extremely helpful to Internet entrepreneurs. It is free to join the site and there are so many ways for you to help yourself. You can locate the best keywords for your business and you can find out what the top bid is on the best key words, then you have the opportunity to place a higher bid.
There are a couple of differences to take note of, however. The free service gives you access to the STST. The way that overture will make a profit here, since the service is free, is by selling you the best key words. There's nothing wrong with that...everybody has to make a profit to stay in business. The Keyword tool on Google gives a complete different set of Keywords. They don't sell the keywords so it makes you wonder which list of Keywords are the best.
Some other search tools which are an excellent source of niche ideas and info are: www.nichebot.com - www.dapper.net - www.buzz.yahoo.com - www.shopping.com/top_searches
What Niche Marketing aims to do.
Niche marketing at its best helps to solve real problems that real people live with everyday. If you can come up with a product or service to promote in a niche market that will help people solve their problems, then you will have a money making niche market website and can quickly build a long list of potential customers.
Basically, find a specific problem that people have....any kind of problem.....then find a "unique way" to help those people solve that problem. If you can do that, then you have a winner and a long term internet business which should make you money for a long time to come.

Choosing the Right Niche
Choosing the Right Niche
Get Free Copy of Derek Gehl's Six Steps You Need To Follow To Guarantee The Success Of Your Online Business! & Affiliate Marketer's Handbook
Every successful Internet marketer knows how important it is to choose just the right niche in order to create a successful Internet marketing empire. After all, you don't want to just hawk products; you want to establish yourself as an expert. In order to do this, you must select a niche that you know something about and can talk about with an air of authority. While there are numerous opportunities to sell or market almost anything you can imagine on the Internet, you're likely to achieve far greater success if you can involve yourself with something that means something to you in some way.
What do You Care About?
While you don't have to absolutely love the niche in which you decide to market, if you are passionate about it, that passion will show through in everything you do. On the other hand, if you don't have some affinity for your niche and are just trying to sell product, that will surely show through also and will cost you in the end. So the key is to build your marketing around something that touches you personally in some way.
Start by taking inventory of your own likes and dislikes. Then dig deeper. For example, say you are absolutely passionate about dogs. However, when you do a Google search, you discover that there are more than 200 million websites already in place for dogs. You realize that you're unlikely to have your website in the top search results with so much competition already in business so what can you do? Here is where you start digging.
Dig Deep
What is it about dogs that you like so much? Is there a certain breed that you feel close to? Perhaps you're a dog breeder yourself. Or maybe your dog has a disease or condition that you've had to pay close attention to. Maybe your dog even requires a special diet. Once you identify what it is about dogs that you feel passionate about, you're ready to start narrowing your choices for a niche market.
It works the same way with any subject. Maybe you like toys. Plug the word "toys" into Google or any other search engine and you'll once again be met with millions of webpage results. Narrow the field, however, and you'll discover that there is indeed, room for one more. And it might as well be you. Just like we drilled down with the subject of dogs, do the same thing with toys. There are toys for adults and toys for kids. Electronic games, board games, outside toys, educational toys; the list goes on and on.
What if you're already marketing a product and now you need to find a niche for it to fit in? You can do this and many marketers do; however, it is still better to build your marketing empire around something that you already care about. Still, sometimes we have to start where we are and if you already have products you're trying to sell, you can still develop a niche around them. The important thing is to establish yourself as an expert so that others will turn to you for information and products when they are in the market for what you are selling.

How to Research and Find Your Niche Online
by Kim and Charles Petty
Free Download 7 Hidden Principles of Super Affiliate Marketing
Deciding on what product or service you will promote in a niche market should be based on a simple principle. There should be a demand for your product or service. You want to offer something that people actually need, something that will make their lives better, make them feel better physically, make them look better, or help them solve a problem.
The next thing you need to learn as you research your online niche market is what you can reasonable charge for your product or service. The best and most effective was to do this is to visit sites that advertise products or services similar to what you have chosen to sell. It should be easy to see if they are giving away a service or selling the product at a price far lower than you would have to charge.
If you can determine that there are people out there who are willing to spend money to buy what you are selling and you can identify those people then you have a niche marketing product or service that can make money on the Internet.
Sometimes it takes reframing your product or service to make it more attractive, better or just different than what others are selling it for. Research is the key to successful niche marketing.

Niche Marketing for Bigger Profits
Niche Marketing for Bigger Profits

Today's topic is all about using niche marketing to improve the bottom line of your business.
Many people think that you can't make a profit with niche marketing. Ed Dale and Fred Kerr popularized niche marketing with their course, "Underachiever". However, since that course isn't available anymore, people assumed that niche marketing is dead.
Nothing could be further from the truth! Niche marketing still works and you can still make A LOT of money doing it. In fact, I have a friend who has some niche websites in obscure markets that make him about $8000 a month, and his business is growing every month because he uses the principles of good marketing. Basic things you can learn from various Internet marketing teachers.
Another friend, Dr. Andrew Jones, started out as my client, then became my student and my friend. He started selling a small $27 e-book online. Now, his business pulls in $15,000 each month. The best news? His business is still growing!
Wondering how it works? My coaching program teaches you how to tap into niche marketing. There are still a few spots left. If you're interested, you can find more information at www.rayedwards.com/letmein "5k In 30 Days". I'd love to see you there.
NO, I'm not trying to sell you my coaching program. Instead, I want to sell you the idea that niche marketing is an effective way to make profits and grow your business. In this article, I include five simple steps you can take to start niche marketing. Of course, this is only a broad overview, but it is enough to get you started with just a bit of work. You won't have to study marketing or spend heaps of cash to get results. All you need is a bit of work - and I know you're not afraid of a little work, are you?
Here are those 5 steps:
Locate a product. I say "locate", not "create", because a lot of people are intimidated by product creation (even though product creation is the easiest thing in the world to do!). The easiest thing that you can do is locate products by finding private label rights packages that give you the right to re-publish product that has already been created. Now, you may think that these products are not worth your time, because everyone's already seen them, or they don't work, or, or, or The startling truth is that while many people are on private label rights sites, very few actually use those products. So, if you do a good job re-packaging the product, change the title, change the graphics, and you can have a ready-made product in a very short time. I promise you can do this in less than an hour. Just pick one, don't look for the perfect one! Less than an hour!
Create a sales page and testing software. Many private label rights packages contain a sales page template, often pre-written. This is a great place to start, though you probably don't want to use it forever. Once your sales page is set up, test it with Google's Website Optimizer. That can help you to tweak it to improve your sales.
Link payment pages to Clickbank or Paypal. Both of these sites will process your payment for a nominal fee, which saves you the hassle of setting your site up to process credit cards.
Drive traffic to your site with Adwords. Go to Google and set up an Adwords account. Their tutorials are great, and will guide you through the process.
Go back, Jack, and do it again!
One final piece of advice: Don't pick "How to make money online" as your niche market. Not that it isn't a good market - a lot of people make a lot of money in this market, but it is so competitive! Pick a market that's less competitive and your competition will be less sophisticated and probably less hard-working than you are. Just a little bit of advice for you to think about.
