I'm sure that we have all had the same thoughts sitting there, staring at the computer screen and thinking about starting our own online home business...just how on earth do I get people visiting my new website?

We all know that at the end of the day, you can have the best converting website in the world, but without any traffic, you're going to go bust. And that was my big issue.

I could see all these great programs and systems, but not one of them told me how to go and get traffic to my site.

So if you're in the same position as I was, here's four great tips that should banish all the doubts in your mind and get you on the Internet making money...

1. You must produce unique, quality content on your website.

The search engines love fresh, new and relevant content. Keep adding new content to your site and make sure that the search engine spiders keep visiting daily. Like most things, don't expect immediate results because in a way, you're having to prove that your website is legitimate strange as that may sound. Unfortunately this harks back to days when webmasters would simply upload a large amount of PLR articles on a site and effectively leave it to its own fate. Google in particular determined that this was not a good experience for its users and began to develop its algorithm to reward those sites matching its requirements and dropping those that did not.

2. Research relevant keywords for your chosen topic and use them all on your website.

To ensure good search engine optimization of your website, make sure that you have a good list of relevant keywords and phrases and use these on your website for page titles and sub-page titles. Use them in your articles too so that you not only appeal to search engine spiders, but human visitors too.

Don't load your pages with content that speaks to a search engine bot. I'm sure you've read webpages or articles that are so loaded with keywords for spiders that they make no sense at all to you or I, which is pointless as you want humans to buy from you.

Beware too, as Google in particular is now leaning heavily on 'Latent Semantic Indexing' which basically means it is rewarding sites that speak to humans not just bots.

3. You're new in town - you need to let everyone know that you've arrived and where they can find you!

Submit your new website to the search engines to let them know that you have a new site and you want them to find you. Don't go overboard - you only need to do it once so long as you have a good website that can be accessed by the bots. If you want to submit using a submission program, get yourself a new email address as many will be link farms and FFA sites and will bomb you with rubbish. Stick to the main ones and the others will follow naturally.

4. Try to get good one-way backlinks to your website. You can actually pay to have websites link back to you from high PR (Google Page Ranked) websites, but be careful as Google in particular is very picky about what qualifies as a relevant backlink and will drop your site if it thinks you are trying to use link-spamming techniques. If you start to submit your own original articles to article directories, you will find that this is the quickest and the best way to generate good quality backlinks to your new website, and will also generate good traffic.

So, as you can now see, starting to get the ball rolling and generating visitor traffic to your new website is not as difficult as it may seem at first. Just follow the steps outlined above and stick with the program and you will see more and more visitors coming through which will mean more money for you!

It is an expensive task to get a person to visit your website. Yet, all the talk online is about how to get more and more people to visit. What about those who are visiting today?

We all get some traffic. The question is, are we making the most of every visitor we get? Today's article asks three important questions, the answers to which could just create the success you desire online. Making the most of *every* visitor. Now that's smart business!

It seems that every guru (and would-be guru) in the land is talking about traffic.

This information usually comes in hype-filled fashion, using terms like "How to get 'laser focused' traffic in massive amounts to your site for so little money it makes you laugh until things fall out of your nose!"

Getting good traffic to your site IS a tough needle to thread. You can easily spend hundreds on software that is hard to use, at best. You can also throw money down a rat-hole buying traffic that ends up wanting to have nothing to do with your offer. And trying to keep up with the search engine rule changes can make you go nuts.

That's why an entire industry has sprung up to help you get traffic ... for a price. The sad fact is that most of the traffic buying programs you see are a rip-off. I've yet to meet anyone who made so much money buying "massive amounts of traffic" that they couldn't wait to buy more. And that's what happens with great products; people want to buy again and again because they actually help people make money.

Let's save how to get traffic for another article. While plenty is being said about how to get visitors, I wonder if we're losing focus on what to do with visitors once they arrive. Since the great likelihood is that you are getting *some* traffic now, let's look together at three questions that will help you maximize the value of the traffic you get. As a quick aside I must say that I know several successful business people who are doing very well on only a couple of hundred visitors a day. Don't be tricked into thinking that it takes untold thousands of visitors to make good money.

Massive numbers aren't the key. Massive effectiveness is.

So how can you make your site massively effective? Ask yourself these three questions.

1. Why would someone come to your site?

This question is the foundation for success. The more you know about your audience the more you can tailor your message to them. When your message matches your visitors, when it speaks to their needs and offers them a solution (solutions are the ONLY thing people buy) you will be in a position to make the most money from the least visitors.

2. Why would someone recommend your site to others?

Perhaps the most underused marketing technique on the web is the personal recommendation. You see this in ezines all the time, where the publisher recommends a product or service, but how often do *you* get asked to recommend a web site?

The fact is that people who visit your website need what you offer. And they know others who need your solution too. Are you asking them to recommend their friends to your site?

If you use a shopping cart it should offer this "tell a friend" feature or you can find lots of services on Google. No matter how you do it, be sure to do it soon. If only 1 visitor in 50 refers a person you are ahead of the game.

3. Why would someone return to your site?

Once a visitor arrives the real work begins. You need to convince them that you have the right solution at the right price and that now is the right time. If only 5% of first-time visitors buy you will be doing very well.

But what about the 95% who don't buy?

For them, you need a follow up method. You need to get your message in front of them at least seven times before they will buy. So how do you do that?

1. You bribe them with something free. They get a free report, you get the right to send them more information. A fair exchange if you don't abuse the privilege. This is why autoresponders were invented.

2. You get them to sign up for your ezine. 3. Use a pop-out window. Creating a pop-up is super easy these days. Using a pop-up when people leave your site is smart business because you give them one more chance to get more information. You'll be surprised how many people really want more info and will fill out the form in this pop-out box.

No matter how much, or little, traffic you get now you need to maximize that traffic. While it's important to have great copy, ask for the order often and do all the other marketing stuff, answering the three questions above will give you a road map you can follow *today* to begin converting more visitors to customers.

It gives me great pleasure to work on my business. Actually all of them. Each day I have a written well thought out plan though. I have short term plans and long term plans. I have daily tasks, weekly tasks, and monthly tasks. I never get bored. These tasks can be either thought of as goals or tasks, whichever you want to think of them as. They have to be achieved no matter.

To achieve them you have to have both good time management skills, and have a good plan of which order they need to be done. You also must be committed to achieving them. You have to have a sense of urgency behind each goal or plan. It matters if something does not get accomplished. Sure there is going to be days and weeks that something unexpected happens, but then it is time to get even more serious about getting things back on track.

Here in the marketing world, it is very easy and a common problem to get a serious disease called "Information Overload". It is being passed throughout the internet like wild fire. The symptoms are not knowing what to do next, and working on 5 projects at the same time, jumping from one thing to another without completing anything. I have to admit I caught that once, and it took a while to cure it.

Here is how I cured it.

I had piles of information in front of me, in DVD's, books, downloads of videos, ebooks, newsletters, audios, you name it. It was time to break it down into categories.

I wrote down my plan. I said, Mike, what is your plan for this business. I answered, To make money, and at the same time help others while doing that. You see, I learned along time ago that this is a give and take world; you must give, before you see the rewards. You do not just take, take, take, and expect to survive.

So I asked myself, Mike, what will it take to do that? My answer was offer good information, only information that will really help people and information that they want and need. That will be both my PRODUCTS and will be my SERVICE. So step one was wrote down. Find or create information products and services. So many to choose from in the internet world, Ezines, newsletters, audio's, video's, articles, and so on.

The next thing I had to think about was getting customers or guests, or TRAFFIC to my site. Without traffic, I could not help people or could I make any money. Again, so many ways to do this. Pay-per-click, writing articles, SEO (search engine optimization), the many different streams of social networking (video, my space, forums, lens, etc), shared linking, etc. I figured the best thing to do is become a master of at least one of these for a steady stream of traffic.

The next thing I new that had to be done was keeping track of what people liked and would buy and what they did not. What made people click that link but not the other. What ads worked and which didn't. It is called testing, and falls under a category called CONVERSION. I had to know what was working and what wasn't. I had to have the right key words. I had to have the right subscription box in the right place. The right color scheme. The right headlines. The right graphics. Always tweaking, and changing to get more conversion.

Copy Writing is the most important skill I need to learn to achieve the greatest amount of conversion was final analysis.

The last goal was to be able to sell over and over to the same customers. To get loyal customers that would look to me again for their information needs. I would need to have their information and make sure I over delivered, and offered bonuses, and good customer service, and make sure I thank them. Only give good quality products and services. Good BACKEND service and follow up. Emails to keep them up to date on new products and services I had to offer.

So, PRODUCTS, TRAFFIC, CONVERSION, BACKEND. That is what I have to focus on. My four categories. This will be a good plan and if I can get those synchronized and working then my business will grow steadily and I will have a very successful business. Now all I had to do is break up each category into pieces and focus on one at a time.

I normally have 4 hours to work on this business a day. Wow, 4 categories, what a coincidence. 1 hour time for each category.

You can use this same business plan. Figure out how much time you want to work on just one thing at a time. Do not have too many things going at once and finish one task before you move to the next. Create a product or find and down load affiliate products for X amount of time. Then work on just one form of getting traffic, writing an article or doing social networking for X amount of time. Then work on conversion by tweaking your site, or writing copy for X amount of time. Then work on backend by writing email follow ups for X amount of time.

Good way to focus, good time management, and things get accomplished.

I have found that listening to a series of tutorials and reading ebooks one after another is not a good use of time. You should always educate yourself and never stop learning, but watch a video or listen to a audio, on the category you are working on and then implement that new knowledge while you are learning to it, or directly after.

Over the last few years there have been a number of new businesses that have arrived on the internet community.

a. Do your research.

If the company is not willing to provide you a sample of their product before you get involved or at least allow you a low oost sample, I recommend that you don't get involved.

Too many times I have talked with people who have got involved with a new company only to be heart broken a few weeks after they have joined because of the sheer lack of support they received when they intitially got involved.

One thing to keep in mind, and I truly believe that this is an important piece of the puzzel is to make sure that you have a contact phone number before you join.

What should you do with this phone number you ask? Call it and talk to the person or company that you are thinking about getting involved with.

There is nothing worse than partnering with a company only to find out later that your sponsor is no where in site.

You need to be sure you can get along with the person or company support you may be working with before you spend any money getting involved.

Be smart and use your judgement.

I’ve been in business online for quite a while now, and minisites are still a fantastic, simple way to make money online.

But how can you leverage your minisite work to pile up even more money? It’s not hard to set up a minisite (actually, it’s pretty easy once you know what to do), but it’s smart business to make your efforts pay off in more than one way. Let me lay out a simple scenario to illustrate the point.


Say you set up a minisite to promote your own ebook. That’s a good strategy.

Now, where is your traffic coming from? Speaking in pretty general terms, there are two ways to get traffic to any website:

You can use various strategies to get free traffic
You can pay for traffic using something like Google’s AdWords program

Free traffic is great, and I highly recommend trying to get some. I even give you some tips in MiniSite Profits Exposed (and more in the advanced videos).


But don’t ignore that second option. AdWords is one of the fastest ways to get laser targeted traffic for your minisite. And actually, you’ll want to use it in two ways.

First, you want to get traffic to your minisite to sell your product. Hey, that’s why you put the site up in the first place! AdWords is a great way to get that traffic fast.

Second, you want to get traffic to your minisite to buy other people’s products. Don’t let that confuse you. I’ll explain.

In MiniSite Profits Exposed, I mentioned promoting affiliate products to the email list you build at your minisite. That’s very smart, and I’d be proud of you for doing it.

The first step is to track down hot products to promote. One of the easiest places to find those is ClickBank.

The ClickBank marketplace is easy to search, and you can promote any product there for free. All you need is a ClickBank ID, which is easy to sign up for and costs nothing to get.

You’ll have to research the products, of course, and find some that target your niche well. And you’ll want to focus on ones that are currently selling well for existing affiliates. No sense in trying to blaze a new trail. Find some that already are making money for people, and take your slice of that pie.

Once you know what to promote, you’ll have a do a little “tech stuff”. It’s not a crazy amount, and you don’t have to be a genius, but you’ll have to complete some technical tasks before you’re ready to promote.

You’ll need to set up a directory (a folder) at your site that contains a special type of page. That page might be:

A review page of an affiliate product with your opinion of it, and your affiliate link at the bottom to send a reader to the product sales page. By the way, if you have a good review page template to use, that’s the fast track to making lots of money with your minisite as an affiliate.

A case study page that tells people about your experience with the affiliate product, with your affiliate link at the bottom.

A sign-up page with an email address capture form that sends people through your affiliate link to the product sales page.

A “pre-sell” page for the affiliate product that aims to warm up a prospect and make him more likely to buy when he clicks your affiliate link to get to the product sales page.

Writing these pages yourself will take some copywriting skill, and you’ll have to be able to set up an HTML page on your own.

If you don’t want to mess with any of that, you can outsource the work to a freelancer at Elance.com or someplace similar. That will cost you a modest amount of money, but it might be worth it to you to save the time and to get a solid page that should perform well.

Beyond the actual landing page you’ll need to create for an affiliate product, be sure that you have a system set up to track your affiliate results. That will tell you which products are making you the best profit so you can focus your efforts on them.

You’ll want to track how much time visitors spend on your landing page, how many click through to the affiliate product sales page, and so on. Statistics from your minisite web host should help you here.

Okay, but how do you get traffic to that page at your minisite?

AdWords!

As you know, AdWords lets you write your own ads that direct people who click to your site. What you have to do is first, get them to notice your ad, and second, get them to click it.

One of the best tactics is to name the product directory with the keyword you want to target…which might be the affiliate product name itself.

Then when you write your AdWords ad, you can use that keyword in the ad in a very important place. The key place to use it is in your display URL, which is the last line of your ad. It shows up as green text.

If you use your keyword there, it’s very likely to help what Google calls the quality score for your ad. That will get you better ad position, which will probably get you more (and better) clicks.

And don’t forget to track how your AdWords ad performs. If you’re not careful, you can lose your shirt by buying lots of clicks and not getting affiliate sales from them.

One of the best ways to track this is to set up ClickBank tracking IDs for each keyword you target with your AdWords ad. Those IDs show up at the end of your ClickBank hoplink (your affiliate link).

When somebody buys an affiliate product through your link, ClickBank will tell you which tracking ID got the sale. That tells you which keyword got them to buy.

That information will help you know which clicks on your ad are paying off, and which aren’t. That protects you from buying clicks without any reward.

That’s a very simple strategy for taking a minisite you’ve already created and increasing your income from it. And you have to do barely any work to make it happen.

I’ll be the first to say that anything you haven’t done before presents a learning curve. That’s unavoidable. But the learning curve for this one isn’t impossible for a novice to climb. The best part is the reward for the effort you’ll put in.

I’ve been doing this for several years now, and it’s one of the reasons I bring in four figures a month pretty regularly from ClickBank products with several of my minisites. It’s a simple technique that I’ve proven to work. Now you can use it yourself.

Remember, minisites are assets for your business. You should squeeze as much profit out of them as you can. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

You have to grab the attention of your list, you must create enough interest so that your list is begging for more information on your products.

Carry out some market research for yourself, register with various companies and see how they sell, see how they make their products "sizzle", this is sometimes referred to as "selling the sizzle" and can be very effective.

There are many ways to present your products and many promotional styles and methods. You have to grab your customers attention and get them to visit your site for more information and therefore buy your product. Content and creativity are the keys here, you are trying to lock in your customer to your marketing and therefore your products.

a) Keep your message simple, light and creative. Your customer does not want a long winded email with loads of facts and figure about your products and their performance. Keep it light hearted, your objective is to get your customer to read the email. We all live in a serious world, add a bit of humour or fun and it can pay off.

b) Add photos and splash some colour into your emails. Send out newsletters previewing your products, make them interesting, light hearted and eye catching. Grab your customers interest.

c) You must have good content and articles about your products. This will build trust between you and your customers. If necessary get a professional copy writer to do this for you in a style that is informative and light hearted, not stuffy. Outline the benefits of your products to your customers - do not talk about features - only benefits. This is sometimes overlooked by new internet business owners. They don't realise that just sending an email is not enough. In this day and age there are literally thousands of companies who market their products through opt-in lists via email. You have to realise that you are just one of the many companies vying for your customers attention.

Therefore it is imperative that you actually get your customer to open your email. To some this may sound rather a basic point. But do you realise that on average every 100 emails sent to an opt-in list, the average number of emails that are actually read is approx 30-40.

THE major factor in your customer opening your email is the subject heading in your email - that is why it is so important to get this right.

a) Try and keep the subject short and concise, it should ideally provide a summary of the content of your email. You need to grab the attention of your customer so that they are intrigued to open your email and read further. Tickle your customers curiosity, use emotion and selling words. Remember you only have a few seconds to grab your customers attention before they skip or delete your email.

b) A popular method is to indicate that your email will give your customer some sort of training or tips on certain subjects. You can do this by using such phrases such as "Guide To ..." or "How To ..." or "Tips for ...". These are known to work well but your email content must reflect your subject heading.

c) Asking a question in the subject heading can also work well. Again you have to get emotional buy in, even from the subject heading. So questions like "Are you looking for financial freedom?" or "Have you had enough of working for someone?". These types of subject heading get your customers thinking straight away and are known to work well. Again always ensure your email content gives an answer to the question stated in the subject of your email.

d) New product announcements. This is perfect when previewing new products you are about to launch or make available to your customers. Headings like "Announcing great new ..." or "2 weeks before launch of ...". Again can be very effective given the product you are selling.

e) Issuing a command or directive. Statements such as "Act now ..." or "Limited opportunity apply now ..." or "Triple your income, find out how ...". Again you are emphasising the benefits of your products to your customers.

Things To Avoid When Emailing Your List:

Online and email marketing is very common and your customers will be bombarded with many internet companies vying for their money. It is important for you to avoid getting into problems with the law or your ISP or with spamming. However, if you have created your own opt-in list then you should be o.k. and not have to worry from these problems. However there are still some things to avoid.

Remember it can takes years to gain a good reputation and only a few minutes to destroy it.

a) Analyse your email broadcasts, take note of those that bounce, i.e. that are undeliverable. Also get some information on how many were opened. Erase all bounced email addresses. Some autoresponders such as Aweber do this for you. Manually check the email address for common mistakes, it may be that it is a simple spelling mistake which you can correct.

b) Always but always provide an unsubscribe option at the bottom of your emails. Aweber automatically does this as do most autoresponders. It may be that someone used another persons email address so you need to give them an easy option to stop receiving your emails.

c) Do not send shocking or disturbing pictures or video, absolutely no pornographic content should be sent. You cannot be certain of the age of the person who has opted in to your list, therefore always keep your content respectable and above board. Always stick to the content of your site or your products.

Follow the above golden rules and you should be successful at marketing your products to your list and getting a favourable response. Remember, cultivating the relationship between yourself and your customers is key in establishing trust and thereby getting your customers to purchase from you.
