Do you remember your first day as a signed-up affiliate program member? It may not be that long ago that you began your affiliate marketing business. Alternatively, you may be a seasoned pro in the game. Regardless, you did have a "day one" when you first stepped onto the stage to perform affiliate-marketing activities.

Did you wing it for the first few months? Did you learn by trial and error and waste a lot of time in unproductive activities? Did you wish you had direction and a box of affiliate marketing tools to get you going on the right path? If so, you may have downline members experiencing all of this right now as well.

As a recruiter of downline members into your affiliate business, you have responsibilities. You have a responsibility to those newbie's who want to grow their business quickly. They have made a commitment to the affiliate program. They are going to drive your revenue as well as theirs. You need to take the time to teach new downline members proper marketing tactics. The following are five tactics that you can teach your downline:

Article Marketing

Your new downline members may never have heard of article marketing. They may not know that it is an efficient and low-cost method for getting their Website links into cyberspace. They may not know the first thing about article writing. They may not understand what an article campaign can achieve.

As an affiliate mentor, you will need to teach them the process step-by-step. You will have to show them how to construct a useful article. You will have to educate them on who the good article distribution services are and what they offer. Above all, you have to explain how article marketing will bring more traffic their way.

Social Networking

Again, neophytes to the affiliate marketing game may not understand how social forums can help them. Many will certainly use them for their personal conversations. You have to teach them how they can use these sites to promote their business.

Your job will be to show them what forums are best suited to the affiliate product. You will need to train them on proper forum etiquette as concerns business promoting. When you do, they will use these forums properly and see results quite fast.

Website Content Writing

New downline members may have their first ever Website now up and running. However, they may be unorganized, text dense sites that are difficult to read and navigate. You will have to train your downline on how to display properly, content promoting their affiliate product.

You will educate them on having shorter sentences, shorter paragraphs, and shorter bullet points. You will show them that fluff and generic boring content is not the best way to highlight their products. You will show them how to construct useful content that potential customers crave.

E-mail campaigns

Your new downline members are going to have to learn to market to their list. Of course, they have to have a list in the first place. Your job as an affiliate trainer will to teach them about opt-in pages. You will show them examples of proper opt-in pages; why they need to have these on their site.

Next, you will show them examples of successful e-mail scripts you may have used. You will give them direction on how to construct their own e-mail messages. You will provide them those pre-written scripts that have garnered great response from recipients.

Other Writing

Along with article writing, Web page writing, and e-mail writing there are other writings you can teach your downline. These would be press release writing and product review writing. These are also important for building an online business.

Again, systematically, you will have to explain these to your new downline members. You will have to explain what a press release is and what elements it must contain. You will have to show them how to write honest product reviews of their product, and others they compare it to in a review. They will have to learn how to write intelligently about product benefits and drawbacks. This is so they can present objective product reviews that are useful to customers.

The above are five marketing tactics you can begin teaching your downline now. This is all about training your downline and it does take time and effort on your part. However, mentoring and training are necessary so downline member attrition is minimal. Proper teaching nets positive results, for you, and for downline members looking to achieve.
