It has happened again! People are complaining about the amount of money that they are making on the Internet.
I know this for a fact because I read it every day in Internet marketing forums all around the world. To that I say it is time for some of you to wake up and smell the Internet marketing coffee so to speak.
How long you have had your Internet business is really irrelevant. For someone to say I have been working at building my Internet business now for one year and I am not making money doesn't tell me one thing about their business.
For example, I have no idea what they have been doing for the last year. Some people think logging in surfing around looking at websites is building their business.
Others think that hanging out in discussion forums and having a good time is building their business too! It just doesn't work that way.
The only way you are going to make any money on the Internet is to get meaningful traffic. You really don't even know if the traffic you are getting is meaningful until you start getting any kind of traffic at all.
Once you get traffic then you can start monitoring what your traffic is doing. What pages are they coming to your site on, how long are they staying on your site, are you getting any positive responses, and so on!
You can work on changing the message on your site after you get the traffic and see how it is converting. If you don't think it is converting then change the message that you are giving to your visitors.
If you feel like you have a good message then your products may not be right and you need to take a look at what you are promoting. This is the reason why promoting affiliate products you personally believe in works so well.
You don't have to worry about whether the product is good if you already own it and believe in it yourself. You just get that message across to visitors and then play the numbers.
For somebody to complain that they are not making any money after one year and yet they are getting less than 500 visitors a day to their website is a joke. This is pretty harsh language, but it's the reality of Internet marketing today.
In actuality it is the reality of internet marketing since the beginning of time. If you are not getting traffic, capturing names for follow up, doing email marketing, and repeating this process over and over, you just are not going to make any money.
That is the bottom line. It is time to wake up and smell the Internet marketing coffee and determine whether you are going to start making money or quit pretending like it and go do something else.

Bottom line - if you want to make money as an affiliate marketer you need to drive (human) traffic to your website or web page. Even a poorly designed website with huge traffic volumes will out perform a quality website with little or no traffic. If you want to guarantee success consider these four must use stategies.
1. Having found a product or merchant that you wish to promote then make yourself unique by creating your own landing page, website and possibly a blog.
A landing page is used to capture a purchaser's information for future follow up. This is your customer base.
You see, if you just pass the contact on to the merchant it is the merchant who is able to capture those details - on the back of your efforts.
A website (even a simple one) is used to create your credibility and also to pre-sell your product.
Now I know that many merchants will provide a free website to all their affiliate marketers. If they do the first thing to do is to 'personalise' it. Make it yours.
Why?
Answer. Because hundreds, maybe thousands of other affiliate marketers will be using the same cloned website. This will destroy your credibility and displease the Search Engines. And it is the Search Engines who will ultimately rank your site and find you traffic.
A blog can be used to create credibility, be a marketing tool and act as search engine 'bait'.
2. Don't use the marketing tools provided by your merchant. Again, you need to be unique and not be cloned along with the rest. You could write a creative report or e-book to give away on your landing page.
To find your source of materials for this just think what would appeal to you as a customer and create that.
The aim is to make it so appealing that your visitors would be willing to give you their name and email address for future follow up.
Of course you need to do this before passing them through to the merchant. You will have to be a little skilfull here - don't want to annoy anyone.
3. Once you have skilfully captured your visitors details you will now need to acquire a quality autoresponder company. This a company that will store your leads and give you an easy system of keeping in email contact with them.
This is powerful. You can build a list of hundreds even thousands. These are your future customers.
4. This all leads to traffic generation.
There does seem to be as many traffic generation techniques as there are people looking for traffic. And is probably the topic of another article (or two).
Now what I am going to say here is my personal opinion. I am going to give you some DON'TS.
Don't buy into or join safe lists.
Don't buy into or join traffic exchanges
With these you are merely joining thousands of people who are pitching their product to you. They are unlikely to be interested in what you have to offer. Plus they jam up your mail box.
And a final don't.
Don't be tempted to buy leads in. By all means use a service that will generate double opt in leads by advertising your specific niche using your material.
I'm talking about those people who are offering you thousands of leads. They are seldom got by legitimate means and resold many times. If you use these you will get into trouble for spamming. It could spell disaster for your business.
So there you have it. Four must use strategies for the affiliate marketer newbie. Actually they should be used by all affiliate marketers. To your success.

There are so many articles out there on SEO and so many conflicting opinions. Some of those opinions are people just spouting off without any solid evidence to back it up and others are based on tests and experiments done by the author. It can be really confusing for someone trying to understand SEO. Who is right, who is wrong? Where should you focus your attention? Let's answer that question by breaking things down...
The truth is...with over 200 components in Google's algorithm there is definitely more than one way to get your site ranked.
If you've read any of my previous articles you may have come across my Gold Star analogy. Let me quickly break it down for you...
Think of the engines like teachers handing out gold stars. Google currently has about 200 factors in their algorithms that determine how your site will rank. Imagine your teacher with a clipboard and checklist with 200 items on it and she assigns you gold stars for each of the things you do well.
The catch is that some of the items on the list are more important and you may get multiple gold stars for that one item, whereas other items are worth only one gold star.
No one (but Google) knows for sure how the algorithm works, so we study and we test and we monitor the industry to come up with a technique that works well for getting sites ranked based on earning gold stars in various different areas.
The number of gold stars you achieve will determine how well your site will rank.
Let's say you have a ton of great content that uses your keywords really well, and you also have some other on-page optimization in place (like naming images with keywords, clean code that is free of 'bloat' etc.) but you don't have many links. You could still rank well, we see it all the time. Then let's say another site has very little content but they have an obscene amount of legitimate links, they could also rank well (and often do). And now we have the whole content versus links debate and both sides have proven their case. So what do you do?
I encourage you to continue to look at the facts and then come up with an answer that makes sense to you.
Ultimately Google's goal is to deliver the most relevant results to the searchers using Google. So if you break it down in the simplest terms what you need to do is prove to Google that your site is relevant to the phrases you want to be ranked for.
Simple, right? The truth is the concept is simple and once you understand that, you can go about the work of achieving your goal.
Now that you understand at the simplest level what needs to be done, you can start looking at the sites that already rank well for your keywords and try to figure out how many gold stars they have (what are they doing right). This process is called reverse engineering.
Next you start on your journey to beat them out. If they have a nice amount of content, you need to get your own "nice amount" of content - and then exceed it. If they have some good links you need to start getting some good links - and then continue on to get great links etc.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's all quick and easy and going to happen over night. But what I am saying is rather than get caught up in the all talk about this strategy and that strategy, if you simply focus on creating a great site that has a lot of relevant content that people will want to link to... then you are on the right path. You can spend your time building and improving your site, or you can spend your time chasing the latest technique that people are debating about.
And I can't resist chiming in on the content versus links debate...
My response is: why choose only one? If we know both are important to the engines why not focus on both and build your site in both areas? That makes a whole lot more sense to me!
This has been an overly simplified way of looking at things, but I think it is important to take a step back and remind yourself what Google's objective is and then focus your attention and spend your time on the simple things and not chasing the latest technique to "game" Google.

If your able to make them really interesting, more people will sign up for your newsletter and suggest it to other people. Of course the more people that sign up for it, the more traffic you are going to get to your site, which is exactly what you want.
Another idea is to trade links with other sites. No money spent doing this! You just have to come to an agreement with another webmaster. It benefits both of your sites! The traffic that goes to one site could potentially click on the link to your site and vice-versa. This works particularly well when both of the websites are in the same niche.
Write articles that grabs the attention of people that might have curiosity in what you have to offer. Try writing about tips and guidelines that might help other people with problems they might be having. When you write articles that are helpful to other people and supply knowledge to them it will provide the necessary fuel that your traffic needs.
There are tons of different sites that give you free submission and posting of articles. When people have an interest in one of your articles , there`s a good chance that they will follow your link that takes them to your site.
