Analyzing Web Statistics to Help You Market Better

Analyzing Web Statistics to Help You Market Better
Download Free Copy Of The Greatest Marketing Secrets
When it comes to promoting an online business the more you understand consumers the better you can market to them. Knowledge is power in many areas of life and certainly in business. You do your Internet business a big favor when you engage in Web analytics.

Your particular host enterprise for your website or blog may have analytic tools available for you. If they do not, you can obtain analytic tools free or for low-cost from Web service providers. They are usually easy to install and are an aid in understanding visitors to your site. With this knowledge, you can fine-tune your operation to meet consumers' needs.

Data about visitors to your website will enable you to structure your website to produce maximum revenue. Consider how visitors arrived at your portal. With analysis tools, you can see what search terms visitors entered so they landed on your site.

A look at a list of search terms used may help you come up with even more terms. You may develop other keywords and phrases from what you learned by analyzing. You can then keyword-optimize your web pages to these new search phrases. You may never have thought of new keyword phrases without analysis of visitors' current keyword searches.

This study of keyword searches from Web analytics will also help your article writing. When you engage in article marketing, you want widespread distribution of your content. You want many people to find your useful articles. You want your article readers to link back to your website where you can introduce them to affiliate products.

People will only find your articles if they are keyword optimized. Of course, they have to be the right keywords. Web analytics of keyword searches visitors to your site used will help. You will incorporate these keywords into your article writing efforts and subsequently encourage traffic to them.

With Web analytics, you can also monitor from what websites your visitors originate. Maybe you are receiving many visitors from an online-classified advertising site. This lets you know that your advertising initiative is paying off. Alternatively, not all your work in writing ads for classified sites may be paying off.

Through Web analytics, you may find that you receive few if any traffic from a certain classified ad site. That tells you two things. One, it may not be worth it for you to continue to use that advertising portal. Two, your particular advertising writing distributed to that site may be ineffective. You may have to alter your advertising writing to suit a particular site better. Then through Web analytics, you can monitor whether you increase your traffic levels from the site.

Through Web analytics, you can monitor where most of your "conversions" originate. This is different from traffic. You may get a lot of traffic from a Website but no buyers. It's important to know which URL's are sending the buyers to your site.

You can then tailor further your affiliate site to meet the needs and wishes of these customers. If you sell organic teas, you may find most of your buyers come from a health issues publisher. They may come from a health food site with which you have a link exchange.

You now know you will tailor your Website to serve better the health niche. If they are giving you the most business, cater to them. You can then focus your page contents to them, as well as your article promotion campaigns.

Another way Web analytics can help you is by telling you where most visitors land. Many may land on your Homepage. However, many more may not. When you analyze data, you may find your Resources page gets many hits as a port of entry to your site. Is your Resource page attractive and user-friendly? It had better be if that's where many first-time visitors land.

The above are just a few examples of how Web analytics can help you. Take the time to involve yourself with a provider who offers analytic tools. Search out those who can provide you these tools to install on your website. Analyzing data is a way to understand your visitors and build your online business faster.

How Building Trust Builds Your Online Business

How Building Trust Builds Your Online Business
Download Free Copy Of Small Business Success Secrets
In business, whether bricks and mortar or online, there are always the fly-by-nighters. You know the type, out for a quick buck by any means. To these kinds of operators, the customer is the last thing on their mind. Their modus operandi is to get a sale at any cost. What happens is the consumer bears the brunt of the cost without any quality return on investment.

That is why consumers today are wary of doing business online with unknown-to-them enterprises. That's why it is so important to build trust before you can really build your affiliate business. When you take the time to build a trusting relationship with people you sow the seeds for long-term business activity.

How do you let your niche market know they can trust you? You do it by promising certain things than delivering on them. You never want to appear as the aforementioned fly-by-nighters enterprises. They are those who promise one thing and deliver another, or deliver nothing at all.

Here are a few ways you can build that trusting relationship with consumers:

Tell It like It Is

This is the no-bull, straight shooter approach, albeit it in a respectful dignified way. Don't engage in article writing or sales pitches that bend the truth or represent things as more than they really are. Speak about your affiliate products and services truthfully and honestly.
If you write a product comparison article tell it like it is. Trumpet the best features of your and your competitors affiliate products. Talk about the disadvantages of each one as well. When your article readers see you clearly and honestly speak of products in your niche they will trust you.

They will see you as a knowledgeable affiliate marketer looking out for their best interests. They will see you as someone who can aid them in making informed purchase decisions. In short, they trust you as an information provider. Whose Website do you think they will check out when it comes time to purchase? The odds are very good they will check yours out.

Perform It Like You Promised

This is simply doing what you said you would do when you said you would do it. Did you promise a visitor to your affiliate site a free product sample? Did you tell them when they could expect it? If so, then make sure you have enough samples on hand. In addition, ensure that you have delivery mechanisms in place so they receive samples on time.

Maybe you promised regular customers an informative e-book title four times a year. Did you deliver four at regularly scheduled intervals? Were they truly informative books or marketing fluff designed to "sell" them not "help" them? You build trust with customers when you deliver the value you promised when you promised it.

Show Them The Person Behind The Product

You build trust quickly with potential customers when you let them see the person behind the business "persona." As an affiliate marketer have an "About Us" page. Have your e-mail address and telephone number or address displayed as well. Don't have your customers thinking, "Who was that masked man or woman." In other words, don't hide yourself from your purchasing public. People want to know whom they're dealing with most of the time.

Even the big online marketers let people know who and where they are. They make it easy for their customers to contact them for help. They do not hide, and hope that they can sell online without revealing their identity.

Quality, Quality, Quality

Another key to building trust and long-term relationships is by providing quality always. The affiliate product you are passionate about must deliver as promised all the time. Customers don't like surprises. They want that software program you're trumpeting to perform as you promised. They want it to have all the functions you spoke about in your product comparison article. They want it free from bugs that hinder performance.

Consider quality customer service. Do you offer exemplary customer service consistently? Is it a notch above what your competitors offer? Do you strive to continually analyze and upgrade the service you offer affiliate customers? When you do, people will choose you the next time they buy. They trust you will stand behind what you sell to ensure their satisfaction.

Building trust with your clientele is basic business acumen. When people see you as a trustworthy affiliate, they will be open to your marketing message. Why wouldn't they be, you're going to give them what you promised, and what they need.

The Importance Of A Professional Designed Website

The Importance Of A Professional Designed Website
Download Free Copy 14 Point Web Copy Analysis
Your website is the hub of your online business; it is the virtual representation of your company whether your company exists physically or not. When you are doing business online, people cannot see you physically like how they could if they were dealing with an offline company. Hence, people do judge you by your covers. This is where a good design comes in.

Imagine if you are running an offline company. Would you allow your salespersons to be dressed in shabby or casual clothes when they are dealing with your customers? By making your staff wear professionally, you are telling your customers that you do care about quality. This works simply because first impressions matter.

Similarly, the same case is with your website. If your website is put together shabbily and looks like a 5 minute "quick fix", you are literally shouting to your visitors that you are not professional and you do not care for quality.

On the opposite, if you have a totally professional looking website layout, you are giving your visitors the perception that you have given meticulous attention to every detail and you care about professionalism. You are organised, focused and you really mean business.

On the other hand, you should also have anything related to your company well designed. From business cards to letterheads to promotional brochures, every little bit matters. This is because as you grow your business, these items become the face of your business. Once again, think of the "salesperson dressed shabbily" anology, and you will get my point.

There is no point in building a website unless there are visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most sites on the Internet is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista and so on. Hence, by designing a search engine friendly site, you will be able to rank easily in search engines and obtain more visitors.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as people search for it.

If you want to make your site indexed easily, you should avoid using frames on your website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and they might even abandon your site because of that. Moreover, frames make it difficult for users to bookmark a specific page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present important information in Flash movies or in images. Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present important words in Flash movies and images rather than textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site so that search engine robots know at first glance what that particular page is about and whether or not to index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search engine robots job easier so they will crawl and index your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like "font" to style your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and faster to load.

How Can I Use My Website in Conjunction with eBay?

How Can I Use My Website in Conjunction with eBay?
Copyright © 2008 Paul Smithson
Download Free Copy Of Ebay Dropship Profits
You may already know that eBay doesn't allow the direct promotion of websites within auctions, but did you know there are ways to promote your website on eBay without violating any of their terms of service so that you can directly benefit from the millions of visitors they bring to the table?

First of all, you can put practically anything you want on your 'About Me' page. eBay allows you to advertise almost anything there, as long as it isn't illegal or offensive. This is a wonderful starting point for you to add links to your website, and direct any visitors who view your 'About Me' page to your main web site, or any other web site you might want them to see.

Another place where you can freely add links to your site is on an eBay blog. Many people aren't even aware of the eBay blog feature that lets you host a blog right on the eBay site. You can put almost anything you want on the blog too - including a link to your site. This gives you an instant back-link from a domain with huge authority. As of right now, there are no 'nofollow' attributes on links there, so it's a great place to get a back-link.

You can also promote your site through your auctions by advertising your site within your products themselves. If you're selling info products like eBooks or videos, you can provide the URL of your website within the product itself.

If you're shipping physical goods, you can include your URL on a 'thank you' card inside the package. If you have an e-commerce website that sells similar products, you can send your buyers to your site to buy related merchandise, instead of having them buy through eBay. This will save you from having to pay the eBay fees for those purchases.

You can also include your URL in every email you send out to winning bidders, and to those who ask you questions about items. You should consider setting your email signature to include the URL to your site so that you'll never forget to give it a plug.

Another common tactic is to watermark photos with your URL. If you're listing a product on eBay, you'll most likely be including at least one photo of the item. You can put your URL on that photo, so people who view the auction will see the URL, and might visit your site and purchase there instead. This is another way to avoid some of your eBay fees. You might even get lucky and have several visitors come to your site and purchase from a single auction listing, which means increased revenues and a substantial saving on eBay fees as you won't have to pay anything on the sales that come directly through your site.

One final point is that it's worth remembering that not everyone likes buying from auction sites. Many people prefer to buy direct from the seller, and by using the above techniques you give people a chance to do exactly that. Of course, you will still be paying fees on any sales made through eBay, which is only fair, but by using the above techniques you can help generate additional business on every single listing.

Internet Marketing for Online Success

Internet Marketing for Online Success
Download Free Copy Of Derek Gehl's Six Steps You Need To Follow To Guarantee The Success Of Your Online Business!
Internet marketing is crucial for the success of your business because with the millions of websites that are in cyberspace there is ferocious competition amongst companies fighting to be number one. In order to reach their prospective and existing customer base, thereby consolidating their positions, online businesses have only effective marketing technique available to them. As the term itself suggests, internet marketing refers to all marketing efforts that an online business resorts to in order to draw customers to their website, within the domain of the internet. In certain aspects, it is similar to conventional marketing methods and in some other respects, it is vastly different.

Like the advertisements of products and services posted in newspapers and visual media, the internet marketing concept also accommodates traditional advertising methods, however utilizing, banners and buttons within websites instead. Similarities aside, however website ad placement offers online businesses some other advantages that print or visual media does not. Some of which actually ends up being free for the advertiser.

In online marketing, there is what is called pay-per-click marketing, wherein the advertiser need not have to pay any money to a website for putting up the ads, but rather only when someone actually clicks on the ad to the business's portal, sending them to the advertisers homepage. Another marketing technique, affiliate marketing, is another situation where businesses need not pay any money to display their ads up front with affiliate websites, but rather when someone clicks through the ads to the advertiser's website. However, with affiliate marketing one has to build an affiliate network in the first place, which is a bit of a tough task.

There is this also search engine optimization or SEO, wherein a website will be programmatically engineered (reverse engineered) to make it search engine friendly so that the next time someone searches the web using a keyword associated with the respective online business its website features amongst the top of the search engine results page. The advantage with this method is that the online business need not have to pay even a penny for the visibility it enjoys in search engine results. However, the process of search engine optimization could cost businesses some money, and how much that is depends upon the extent of the SEO work required, and the niche or domain that the particular website represents. The money factor aside, SEO is one of the most important internet marketing tools that any online business can not afford to overlook.

Other useful internet marketing for online business success methods include blogging, participation in discussion forums, article posting in directories, press releases, promoting businesses in social networking portals, and joint ventures. Promoting product/services by uploading a small promotion video with free video sites such as YouTube is also a good internet marketing technique. To play ads in visual media can be quite costly. But, the same ad campaign, if ran through a free portal such as YouTube, will not cost your business a dime. True, it might not be viewed by everyone, but still one could tactically draw people to view the ad film by providing a link within the pages of their website, or within a blog entry.

Internet marketing can work wonders for online businesses, provided it is executed in a systematic and positive manner. Of the lot, PPC brings instantaneous results, while SEO, even though effective, will take some time before the webpage appears on the first few SERPs. Affiliate marketing relies heavily upon how the affiliates perform in the long run.

Affiliate programs are literally taking the internet by storm. Affiliate programs are so popular that it is likely that you have heard of them before, even if you are not a website owner. While many individuals have heard of affiliate programs, there are very few who actually know what they are. If you are interested in capitalizing on this amazing business opportunity, you are encouraged to familiarize yourself with affiliate programs and what they can do for you. Doing so may very well be the best decision that you could make.

Affiliate programs are business programs, also sometimes referred to as business opportunities, which are ideal for webmasters. All webmasters can benefit from the use of an affiliate program, but those looking to make money can benefit the most. This is because, in a way, you will be selling merchandise for another company. This allows you to make money without having to sell your own products.

A large number of companies participate in affiliate programs, namely retailers. Once you make the decision to join an affiliate program, you will have to file an affiliate partner request form. This form is usually small, but it is almost always required. Most of the retailers, in charge of running an affiliate programs, are well known; therefore, they want to protect their image. This means that before officially joining an affiliate program your website has to be reviewed. If your website is approved, which most legitimate ones are, the next step will all depend on the company in which you are working with.

Most of the retailers or affiliate advertisers will have customized links or banners. These banners will need to be placed on your website. These advertisements will vary from company to company; however, most advertisements showcase merchandise or special sales. If one of your website visitors is interested in learning more, they will click on your link or banner. In doing so, your website will be flagged. This flagging is often done to ensure that you will receive the proper credit for brining in new customers. If an internet user, who clicked one of your affiliate links or banners, makes the decision to purchase anything, you will receive credit for that purchase.

The amount of money that you can make from an affiliate program will all depend on which type of program you are participating in. As previously mentioned, a large number of businesses, including retail stores, operate their own affiliate program. Each business is able to decide the amount of money that you will make from each sale. That money is often a percentage amount. Most affiliate programs begin at around five percent of the sale, but some can go as high as ten or fifteen.

When it comes to affiliate programs, there are many webmasters who decide not to join one. Many of those individuals feel the commission percentage is not worth their time. While this may be the case in come cases, it is not always. In fact, the best way to make money with affiliate programs is to join more than one program. Some affiliate advertisers, such as retail stores, may have strict limitations on who elses links and banners can be displayed on the same page as theirs, but many are flexible.

If you are able to join more than one affiliate program, you are advised to do so. Many webmasters have found success by doing this. Imagine, if you could make money off of one affiliate program, how much money do you think you could make off of five or ten of them? When joining a number of different affiliate programs, it is advised that you carefully track all of your records and earnings. This is easy to do with one or two programs, but with more you may want to consider purchasing affiliate tracking software. Those software programs are an easy way to keep track of your earnings.

To make the most out of affiliate programs, you are advised to take the time to find the right one. Many webmasters sign up for the first affiliate program they come across. While all affiliate programs may be able to generate money, some will perform better than others. By finding these programs, you should be able to make a substantial amount of money with affiliate programs.

How to Create Newsletters that Build Massive Subscriber Lists

How to Create Newsletters that Build Massive Subscriber Lists
Copyright © 2008 Paul Smithson
Download Free Copy Of List Building Super Tips
Building a list is relatively easy, but building a quality list that people will eagerly subscribe to, and stay subscribed to, is something different. In order to keep your subscribers, you need to develop a newsletter or mailing format that offers readers real content and real value.

If your newsletter is something people would pay to receive, then they're sure to stick around for a while. They'll also be much more receptive to buying anything you recommend, and they'll even be willing to refer more subscribers to you.

It's vital that you give your subscribers quality content. So many people just blast out ad after ad to their list, with absolutely no regard for what their readers want. They don't have their readers' best interests at heart. This is not a wise path to tread as you will slowly kill your list both in terms of the number of subscribers and the overall responsiveness.

In order to make sure your newsletter is actually read, you need to provide quality content on a regular basis. This means sending out a newsletter fairly often - at least once a month.

The more often you provide great content, the more your name will stick in the minds of your readers. Once people realize the quality of the content you send, they'll start opening your emails more often. Of course, if you send messages out too often, people will unsubscribe. It's recommended that you not send out more than three to five messages per week, and that is an absolute maximum. Depending on the topic you are mailing about you could find that even three to five mailings a month is too much.

Of course, there are always exceptions. If you are offering a daily business newsletter then you would obviously have to mail daily, but anyone subscribing to a daily newsletter would expect to be receiving it each day and so wouldn't be annoyed and such a regular mailing schedule.

So, once you've got people to join your list how do you keep them interested so that you maximize the chance of your mails being opened and read, whilst at the same time minimizing the number of people who unsubscribe?

There's one technique that has been used incredibly effectively by many of the leading online marketers and that is ...

Get personal!

Build rapport with your readers by providing them with personal information and anecdotes. The more your readers feel like they know you personally, the more they'll trust your opinions, and the more likely they will be to respond to your offerings and recommendations.

But getting personal is much more than just telling them about what's happening in your life - much, much more. Although adding a personal touch to your mailings is a good thing, the truth is that unless you're a famous actor or rock star the chances are that your readers are much more interested in the meat of your newsletter. They might get a chuckle out of hearing about your latest funny encounter on the subway, but that isn't what they subscribed for. So, whenever you give them a personal story, try tying it in with some related content.

Nearly every story can be worded in such a way that it has a hook that relates to your subject in some way. Get creative! By tying in personal anecdotes to your content, you'll build a base of readers that not only love your content, but really like you.

When you're going to send an ad out to your list, you should consider offering some truly exceptional content that is related to the product. If you're promoting a product about using AdWords, why not provide your readers will several of your best AdWords tips in the same email? It's a case of give and take. If all you are doing is taking (i.e. expecting them to part with their hard earned money) then you need to be giving too. This can be in the form of quality content or well researched recommendations. If you're just recommending something so you can earn a quick buck, then think twice.

Getting personal is a two way street. It isn't all about you telling them about your life, it's about you going out of your way to meet the needs of the reader, not just once, but time and time again. If you can do that you will have a list of subscribers who are likely to be with you for many years to come.

Online Social Networking--How to Boost Credibility and Exposure to Your Network Marketing Business

Online social network marketing communities are popping up all over the internet, and are becoming very popular to internet enthusiast. In fact, Myspace has started a big trend with millions of users and more added daily. One question I would pose is what's the big attraction and why are so many business professionals drawn to these communities. The truth of the matter is every business owner online is interested in growing their business by any means necessary, and what a great place to get tips, tools, and potential business partners than social business communities. As a business owner, these communities are vital and can be gold mines to help you grow your business if they are used correctly. Here are 3 reasons why business owners should consider joining these types of communities

1. Peer-to-Peer Networking: This is what makes a online social network marketing community so exciting. Networking is not hiding behind your computer hoping someone will join your deal, but actually taking the time to get on the phone in order to get to know a person on a personl level, and sharing ideas and advice with each other. One thing that has to be understood is no one cars about your business. They are only interested in building their business not yours. Make the most of your networking opportunities. Build a relationship first, share your opportunities last.

2. High-End Prospects: Once you begin to network and learn about the people you're communicating with inside of a online social network marketing site, trust starts to develop. And along with trust comes an open-mind. Maybe the person who you're talking to isn't successful with their current business, and wouldn't mind taking a look at other options. Don't beat them over the head with your opportunity, because more than likely they will ask you what you're into and then you can explain to them your business. I have come to the conclusion that the best business builders are those who are already in a network marketing business. They are versed in business concepts, compensation, marketing, etc. These people also understand the true power of networking. These are the people you want and need in your business, but don't push it. Be patient and serve first before receiving.

3. Marketing tools: A few of these online social network marketing communities offer different advertising tools to help you grow your business while networking. Some of these tools include blogging, classifieds, forums, list builders, youtube features, audio, etc. This is "icing on the cake" when it comes to building a successful business online making it much more easier to increase your business by at least 50% or more.

In conclusion, we all could use advice and tips to help grow our businesses online. online social network marketing communities are known to help you connect with like-minded people who are also in the process of building a business. On the other hand, what a better place to build solid-strong foundational relationships of which could very well potentially develop into a solid business partnership for life.

The Perfect Home Business Model For The 21st Century

The Perfect Home Business Model For The 21st Century
Download Free Copy Of Start Your Own Online Business
So I was at my favorite Starbucks the other day down here in South Beach, Miami doing some work as I often do a few days a week. Being a Home Business Owner is great but sometimes you just need to get out of the home office once and awhile to mix things up a bit. Not to mention, Starbucks resembles a virtual office environment more and more these days. Entrepreneurs on lap tops drinking coffee everywhere you turn.

Anyways, I couldn't help but over hear what appeared to be a "job" team meeting going on that was led by the office manager for this particular company. She was literally reading a set of rules and procedures to these folks about what they could and could not do in the office that sounded more like a 2nd grade orientation than a meeting amongst grown employees. I was actually pretty shocked.

So I couldn't help but think about 2 things:

1. How thankful I am to be a full time, self employed Home Business Owner and Entrepreneur that does not have to abide by those rules ;) and...

2. The famous Cash Flow Quadrant.

If you're not familiar with the Cash Flow Quadrant you really need to be. This revolutionary concept was created by best selling author, financial expert and multi-millionaire Entrepreneur Robert Kiyosaki and has allowed him to go on to sell 20 million books world wide as a result.

In a nut shell...

The Cash Flow Quadrant is made up of 4 different types of people who make up the world of business - ALL 4 with completely different types of core values. If you haven't seen it, it looks like this:

E for Employees (the folks at Starbucks)

S for Small Business Owners or Home Business Owners (You)

B for Big Business Owners (Donald Trump)

I for Investors (Hopefully You)

Kiyosaki says there is "a whole new set of rules out there for those who want to be rich." Rules many are still not aware of, believe it or not.

Chances are the folks at Starbucks who were having those rules and procedures read to them have no idea that the S, the B or the I Quadrants are even available to them.

So of all the business models Robert Kiyosaki supports within the Cash Flow Quadrant, the "Direct Sales" Business Model is his favorite and he calls it the perfect business model of the 21st Century. He says: "Its not money that makes you rich, its business skills" and this is the industry where those skills are taught from the ground up, without the big price tag.

Kiyosaki also mentions the importance of control. If you're not actively building a business you have very little control. This is an incredibly important point and one that should not be taken lightly.

Because remember, "its not money that makes you rich, its business skills" and many of those skills can be taught in the Direct Sales industry.

5 Tips For Staying Razor Sharp When Starting Your Home Business Enterprise

5 Tips For Staying Razor Sharp When Starting Your Home Business Enterprise
Download Free Copy Of Small Business Success Secrets
So, you've decided to start a home-based business?

Good for you!

You've just joined the ranks of 79 million North Americans who are expected to start their own home based business in the next 3 to 5 years according to Forbes Magazine.

You may be juggling a full time job, a part time job and family life. You know that there are many things you need to do in order to successfully start your business and work from home.

Don't let anyone fool you into thinking its going to be easy. It can be simple but it won't be easy. If it were easy everyone would be rich working from home.

How are you going to fit your business project into your daily commitments?

It's easy to become overwhelmed and lose focus. Losing focus will cause you to take no action. Action is essential to moving on from where you are now, to where you want to go.

Here are 5 critical tips for staying focused and razor sharp when starting your home business enterprise...

1. Break It Down:

If you have a large task to tackle, it is always easier when you break it down into smaller components. You'll find it easier to focus because you won't feel as overwhelmed. For example, 'Register a business name' can be broken down into: 'Think of five business name ideas', 'Find out how to register a business name', 'Get registration form' and so on.

2. Keep A 'To Do' List:

Once you've broken down major tasks into smaller ones, make and keep a 'to do' list. Always keep a note pad and pen with you so that you can jot down any new ideas as they arise.

3. Schedule Your Time:

Every evening, decide on three to five tasks on your 'to do' list that you wish to accomplish the following day. Stay focused on these tasks and only move on to the next tasks on your list once these have been completed.

4. Set Goals:

This is critical. There is nothing that will keep you more focused than setting goals and writing out your goals. Visualize exactly where you want to be in a month, six months and a year.

In a month's time, do you want to have registered a business name and have a fully functional home office set up? In three months time, how many clients or team members do you want? How much revenue do you want to generate in a six month's time?

5. Say No:

Be assertive and carve out more time for your home business. Saying No to that extra demand by your boss every once in a while can get you home one hour earlier a couple of days a week.

How about cutting back on the amount of housework that you do? How about watching less TV? Thats a BIG time zapper. Imagine how you could channel that extra time into your home business enterprise...

If you put these 5 tips into practice, you'll definitely find it easier to focus and stay razor sharp so you can achieve your ultimate goal of working from home and putting more Life Style back in your life.

P.S. Pay particular attention to Tip # 3 above. As a Home Business Owner and Entrepreneur, once you gain control of your time you will eventually have all the time you will ever need...

Joining an Affiliate Program Isn't an Easy Process

Joining an Affiliate Program Isn't an Easy Process
Download Free Copy Of Affiliate Marketing Guide
It's advisable to ask questions when joining an affiliate program. Do a tiny research about the particular type of program that you want to join into. Research an affiliate program is extremely important for your future success with them. Most affiliate programs being offered today are absolutely free of charge. Be sure to sign up to a free affiliate program.

Consider when you will be getting you money from the program. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. You may find that you have to earn a certain amount before an affiliate program will pay you, or exceed in order for their checks to be issued. What is the hit per sale ratio? This is the average number of hits to a banner or text link it takes to generate a sale based on all affiliate statistics. Sales ratio is important because it gives you an idea of the amount of people that need to see the offer before you can earn a commission from the sale.

Getting information on the sales tracking methods is very helpful you want to be confident on the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can credit for a sale. What length of time a tracking system allows people to stay on it is paramount.

This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. These are only some of the questions that needed answering first before you enter into an affiliate program. Read up on any affiliate program before you place them on your website.

The only test you're going to face lies in how much highly targeted traffic you can drive to your chosen sites. But the need for proper groundwork is a common thread running through all that's been said here. If you need to prove as a credible seller, you need to have your personalized website.

An affiliate program you promote doesn't need you to have your own website you may sell goods without even creating a site of your own, it helps building trust and is considered beneficial in the longer run. Just a navigational site is enough no need for the best looking website and a means of spreading the message across would be sufficient.

The Top Ten Reasons Small Business Owners Should Build Their Own Website

The Top Ten Reasons Small Business Owners Should Build Their Own Website
Download Free Copy Of Small Business Success Secrets
If you own a small business or practice (selling your services, like an accountant, a therapist, a consultant) and don't have a website yet, it is not too late. And it doesn't have to be a big deal.

In this economy, the winners are going to be those who continue to market and promote. If you haven't gotten around to putting a website up (enough business, referrals, just avoiding), do it now. You are conspicuous by your absence.

You have probably heard horror stories from colleagues about the web designer who flaked on them or paying thousands but getting nothing. Learn from the mistakes of your predecessors and when you do embark on the Internet adventure, seize control of it!

Don't hire that web guy you met at a networking meeting or have your kid do it for you on college break. If you are serious about making your website an important part of your marketing, you must control it yourself.

There are content management systems (like Web Power Tools and others) that make a website as easy as typing a letter in Word.

Here are the top ten business reasons you should build and maintain your own professional website:

1. It's Easy To Change - Your business will change. You'll add a service, you'll change your tag line. Something. If your web guy is the only one who can change your website holding it hostage (for a fee), you won't keep it up to date. An out of date website can be worse than no website at all.

2. You'll Cut Out The Middleman - You are responsible for the content anyway. Why not just do it yourself?

3. Investment - It's a lot cheaper. Even if you get a freelance person to do it for the same price as a template, you'll have to pay again and again when you want to touch your site.

4. It's The Right Amount of Website - The reality of a business website is that it needs to be good enough to get the job done! Not over-the-top with music and animation. Your clients want the appropriate information presented clearly and you don't need a designer to do that.

5. Speed - You can do it quickly. In just an hour or two. Start with just one or two pages and then as you develop more content, you can add it.

6. Getting Found - Search engines like sites with changing content. If you have to pay your web guy every time you want to add a new event or change a link to an upcoming teleclass, you won't do it and then your search rankings will go down.

7. Test - If you control your website, you can use it to test new ideas and offerings. A summer special, a discount offer. Just put it up and see what happens.

8. Course-Correct As Needed - When you build your own website, you can easily track the traffic and statistics patterns, seeing where your visitors were referred from, what pages they visited, how long they stayed. This is meaty information you can really learn from.

9. Don't Reinvent The Wheel - Working with a templated system gives you straightforward guidelines on best practices and what pages and content to develop so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

10. End Procrastination - You can finally cross "build a website" off your list!

The Internet is here to stay and your business needs to get on board. Control your web marketing yourself and see how effective it can be!

Start Your Own Internet Business In Just Seven Steps

Start Your Own Internet Business In Just Seven Steps
Download Free Copy Of Start Your Own Online Business
The decision to start your own Internet business requires motivation, an open mind, and a desire to better yourself. So if you've already arrived at the decision to move forward with the idea, congratulations!

This brief article will give you an overview of how to start your own Internet business. It is then recommended that you check out the resource box for more specific information pertaining to your exact business blueprint.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 1 -

The first thing you'll need to do is define your core objectives. Do you want to generate x amount of extra cash flow per month, offset your vehicle payments, or quit your day job?

Decide exactly why you want to start your own Internet business in the first place and write this down. You may even want to display your core objective in a prominent place in your home office so you can refer back to it if the going gets tough.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 2 -

The second step is to determine realistically how much time and money you can allot to launching and maintaining your business. Can you devote two hours per day, 40 hours each week, or weekends only? And are you prepared to invest $50 per month, $200 one-time, or $500 now and $100 per month thereafter? Whatever you can/will afford in terms of time and money should be noted in the beginning.

The figures above are totally hypothetical. There are no clear right and wrong time and money requirements, although the more you are willing and able to invest the more likely you will be to succeed.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 3 -

Your third step is to decide whether you'll get help or go it alone. Is there another person you'd like to partner with? Are you willing to invest in a home study course or hire a mentor? Or are you willing to research your own study material and run the whole show yourself? This is totally your decision to make, and should be based on your personal preference and objectives.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 4 -

Your fourth step is to decide what kind of business you'll launch. This might take some time to figure out.

You can start by making a list of your skills and interests. Then come up with a few possible business ideas for each listed item.

At this time all you need is a general idea or two. You'll prove or disprove the worth of each idea in the next step.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 5 -

Your fifth step is to research the validity of your idea(s). You'll want to find out if there is a real market for your new business idea, i.e. whether or not there are people willing and able to spend money for products and services related to your idea.

You can use a keyword research tool to find out if people are online seeking products and services like yours. These utilities are not perfect, but they give you a great starting point.

And of course you can have a look at what existing businesses are doing, relative to your ideas. If you can spot a few good-looking sites already selling products and services along the lines of what you'd like to do, this means a paying market already exists; congratulations.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 6 -

Your sixth step is to decide how much of the work you'll tackle yourself, and what you will outsource to professionals. Will you build your own Website, or hire a pro to do this for you? Will you write your own ads and sales letters or commission a copywriter for these tasks. Will you handle customer support or get a help team to take care of this for you? You may want to do everything yourself at first, but you should look into getting some help as soon as possible.

- Start Your Own Internet Business: Step 7 -

Your seventh and final step is to roll up your sleeves and get to work! This is where most people fail. Planning and talking about your venture is one thing, but whether or not you're ready for real action will determine your ultimate success or failure.

Just remember being an entrepreneur is about always learning and growing. So get out there and start moving the ball forward, but know you can always ask for help or invest in new education along the way.

Do You Utilize 'The BIG 3' In Your Marketing Efforts?

Do You Utilize 'The BIG 3' In Your Marketing Efforts?
Download Free Copy Of Small Business Success Secrets
Will you be a better, more educated marketer in 2008 than you were in 2007?

Off course you will. And this article will help. BIG time. '3 BIG' times even...

There's a critical 3-tier approach to any successful marketing plan that unfortunately, most people will never know.

Having a clear understanding of 'The BIG 3' will make or break your marketing campaign so pay very close attention.

Here they are:

1. Message

This is what you say about yourself, your products, your services, and/or your company that is designed to be compelling and attractive to the people that you want to reach.

Most home business owners and entrepreneurs have no message at all and if they do it is no more than an expanded business card. It looks like everything else. Just open the yellow pages and you'll see what I mean, same boring old messages.

Most messages are based on what the business owners want and NOT on what the market wants. Read that again.

They tend to be company focused or product focused rather than buyer focused. BIG difference.

The opportunity with a well crafted message is huge. It gives you a "competition less" advantage and allows you to stand out from the crowd. A really good marketing message allows you to attract more customers at a lower cost, virtually eliminating the prospecting process all together.

How would you like to never have to prospect for customers ever again? Sound too good to be true? Not really.

Your message is called your Unique Selling Proposition (USP). If you've never heard of a "USP" before, well now you have and you must have one or frankly, you're not in business. Emphasis is on the word "unique".

What makes you unique? You need to know this.

Here's a great example:

"Fresh, hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less. Guaranteed."

Sound familiar?

Yep, Dominos Pizza. A struggling company prior to this "unique" message.

It doesn't say it's the best. But it's fresh, hot and quick. Get it? THAT is their message. THAT is their "USP."

And THAT message allowed Dominos Pizza to become a multi, multi-million dollar publicly traded powerhouse. They simply had a message and delivered on it.

2) Market

This is who you deliver your message to and equally important, who you choose NOT to deliver it to.

So what do you do with your message now that you have one?

Target your market.

Target marketing is "Direct Response Marketing," focusing on the who, knowing who it is you want as a customer or prospect, and then setting out to find them and delivering your message directly to them and ONLY to them.

With me? Good.

Many home business owners and entrepreneurs make the mistake of communicating with people who do not fit the profile of their target market or think everyone is their target market. BIG mistake.

If you were managing a baseball team and needed a pitcher you wouldn't run an ad in the local newspaper saying "Baseball Pitcher For Hire." You would seek a pitcher within the game of baseball. You would go to the minor leagues, or other professional baseball teams to locate your pitcher.

So you have two choices:

1) Advertise to lists that are already established within your target market: think Ezines or Newsletter subscribers and Direct Mail.

2) Lead generation: generating your own specific, targeted leads.

If you know your customer or prospect it is much simpler to find them. Right? Right on!

As the famous millionaire-maker Dan Kennedy says:

"Its all about 'message to market match' - specific message to specific market. These are the money skills. This is where the income hierarchy comes in. You move higher and higher up that ladder when you can bring the customer in the door - the money skill."

3) Media

This is when you take your message and get it to your chosen market in the best ways possible; in ways that are efficient, effective and affordable...

Such as: Internet, direct mail, JV's, Ezines, newspapers, radio, tv, etc.

Dan Kennedy also goes on to say:

"There is no inherently good or bad media anymore than a hammer is inherently a good or a bad tool. If you want to drive a nail and hang a picture it is a great tool. If you want to do heart surgery it is a pretty poor tool."

Surge Up In Search Engine Rankings Using The Author Resource Box Wisely

Surge Up In Search Engine Rankings Using The Author Resource Box Wisely
Download Free Copy Of List Building Super Tips
Why is the author resource box so important?
Your author resource box is your best website marketing sales tool in article marketing. This resource box contains the highest return content in your article. Your author resource box holds the key to
* Building your creditability,
* Connecting your reader to your website,
* Converting your reader to a regular visitor of your website, and
* Expanding your sales team without adding salaries or benefits.

Where is the author resource box?
The author resource box is usually located at the bottom of your article, immediately following your content. It's a concise, quick link to you, your background and your website. It is here, in this powerful little box, that you take credit for your article and establish yourself as a recognized expert in your field. And, within your resource box you will provide valuable links for your reader to access your website. Your resource box is a portal into your website, increasing your search engine results and growing your business.

How does the resource box connect the reader and your website?
Your reader has purposely searched out topics related to your article. Since you've already provided great content in your article, your reader will want to continue the quest for more articles, or maybe even buy your products. If you guide your reader into your resource box straight from your article, your reader is already in a mindset to immediately link to your website.

How can my author resource box entice readers to follow my website link?
The most important job of your resource box is to provide a call to action to your reader. Consider your author resource box equal to your closing paragraph on a sales or marketing letter. The resource box wraps up your article and leads your reader to the next step. It is here that you extend a creative, enticing invitation to your reader to link to your site for more information on your article content, as well as additional information, products or services the reader will find within your site.

What should my author resource box include to get the best reader response?
1. Your name, as author and a short description of your background. For example, "John Smith is owner and consultant of ABC Computers. He writes a monthly column for IT Magazine and consults with clients to troubleshoot computer issues."

2. Your specific website URL address. This is the only place in your article where you can use actual HTML code. For the most effective use of your URL link, connect to a page within your site that gives the reader information similar to what was contained in the article they just read. If a viewer has searched for a particular article topic, it's almost certain that they will be looking for more of the same type information within your site. Your website URL will be their link to that information and to your expertise.

3. Your sales pitch. Here's where you get to be creative. You'll need to provide your reader a reason to take action, entice them to go to your website and lead them to valuable resources within your site. You might offer a free report, a related article, a newsletter subscription or a link to your blog. To get more mileage out of your resource box, develop multiple versions of your sales pitch and use it on different articles. Test the effectiveness of each resource box by the number of responses you receive.

4. Anchor text word links. You can also insert second and third links to your website within your author resource box text. Convert important, related words within your resource box into hyperlinks. Connect the anchor text hyperlinks to different pages within your website. This gives your reader multiple avenues into your site, exposes them to different pages that might be of interest to them and gives you one more exposure to your reader. But be careful of multiple text hyperlinks if you have a specific click through goal. Too many links can cause your reader to be confused.

An effective resource box will increase your website traffic and provide your reader with additional references. Your website becomes a valuable resource for the reader. The reader becomes a regular visitor of your site. We all know good things come in small boxes. Don't neglect that all important author resource box at the bottom of your article.

Building Authority And Search Engine Optimization For Higher Rankings

Building Authority And Search Engine Optimization For Higher Rankings
Download Free Copy Of Killer Traffic Conversion Secrets
In the pursuit to deliver a better Internet experience, Google, Yahoo!, and the other major search engines diligently build better algorithms for ranking websites. While link popularity (the number of incoming links that point to your website) is still a valid search engine optimization tactic, it is far less vital to good rankings than trust and authority. In other words, if your website is considered authoritative, Google and Yahoo! will place it on the first page of organic listings for the competitive keywords you pursue.

The concept of trust and authority for search engine optimization is still hard to understand for many people. This article describes how a website becomes considered authoritative and explains the steps a website owner can take to build the authority of their website to enjoy higher organic rankings.

How A Website Becomes Authoritative

The best way to understand how websites become authoritative through search engine optimization is to consider research papers. For example, if a particular research paper is cited by other research papers, it becomes credible. As more people cite the research paper, especially authorities in the same field as that of the paper, it becomes trusted and authoritative. Just like if Stephen Hawking cited a paper someone else wrote on black holes, others would consider the paper authoritative because Stephen Hawking is considered an expert in the field of black holes.

Authority through search engine optimization works in the same way. For example, when operating a website that publishes articles about golf, attracting links from Golf Digest or The Professional Golfers Association would increase the authority of your website within the field of golf. Basically, the more authority you have, the more likelihood you will place high in the organic listings of Google and Yahoo!

Building An Authoritative Website

Building an authoritative website through search engine optimization is difficult. This is why many website owners turn to an SEO company. First, you must carve out a successful keyword inventory that targets and forms the foundation of your search engine optimization efforts. This requires extensive research, competitive analysis, identifying existing authorities in your field, and knowing how well those authorities control the keywords you want to target.

Second, you must build a satisfactory number of critical incoming links to your website. Ideally, these search engine optimization links should come from websites that are authoritative within your field. It isn't usually easy (picture trying to get Stephen Hawking to cite your research paper), but with time and effort, it can be accomplished. By slowly working to attract incoming links from trusted and relevant content websites, mildly relevant education websites (or .edu domains), and social media websites, you will grow the authority of your website. As your authority grows, as will your rankings in Google and Yahoo! for your targeted keywords.

Receiving Qualified Traffic

One of the main advantages to having an authoritative website is that the time, effort, and money invested in search engine optimization will begin to bring in qualified traffic over time. As your website ranks higher, it gains exposure and respect, which attract more incoming links. The more this happens, the more authority you gain, the more exposure to qualified traffic you receive.

Building the authority of your website is a good search engine optimization strategy. Considering partnering with an experienced Chicago SEO company, or a search engine optimization company anywhere, to deliver the best results.

Search Engine Strategies For Beginners

Search Engine Strategies For Beginners
Download Free Copy Of 14 Point Web Copy Analysis
The Google rank number one is the holy grail of internet marketing. Search engines are used by billions of people worldwide, trillions of times every day.

The amount of money spent over the internet increases every year, by unprecedented amounts, and search engine optimization techniques ensure that the customer's dollars go to the companies that are best at it. How can you get your company to the top of the customers' spending lists?

Search engine optimization is a niche, expert industry - and an extremely important one. It changes the playing field for competing companies entirely, bringing small companies in to contend in the same arena as the Coke's, Cadbury's and Microsoft's of this world.

One of the most important ways of increasing your search engine ranking is link building, and many other web marketing strategies that you may have heard of use link building as their basic method for increasing a search engine ranking.

Submitting your site to web directories is an essential part, and depending on your field, there will be up to several hundred of them that you can use. Blogs also use back links and link building to market websites, and Technorati is one blog directory that has a list that you can use.

Press release distribution and article marketing are other very important ways to build links to your website, as well as build your reputation in your field. There are more topics than you might think for press releases, including the launch of your website, changing of major staff at your organisation, and even upper management commenting on social issues.

Just like article marketing though, which we'll look at next, the creation and distribution of press releases can create a significant workload for your company. In many cases it is better to outsource this function to an internet consultancy service.

Article marketing is another link building strategy that helps make your website more prominent on the net. As well as the value of the link, you may get traffic through your website from people that want to learn more about the author, or access your services on the functions that you write on.

Articles can get cumbersome to write and upload yourself, and if you haven't targeted the correct keywords in the correct quantities, they can be next to useless again, using professional internet marketing services can make all the difference.

Blogs are a huge part of modern internet marketing, and are one area where the client really needs as much input as internet consultancy services. You will need to blog for yourself, unless you have quite a large budget, and will need to know which keywords to focus on, and in what quantities, for your work to be effective.

Web analysis tools and web analytics packages from experts can help identify these, however they are quite a dynamic thing. You can't find out once, and then continue to use data from two years ago - use your internet consultancy service to update you.

There are a host of affiliate marketing programs available for you to choose from today. Some are neophytes new to the market, others have a record of accomplishment and are very popular programs. Before you decide which affiliate program to align yourself with, take the time to investigate what each offers.

You may decide to stick with an affiliate program in a certain niche. You may also decide to form affiliate relationships with a variety of programs. You may want to choose affiliate programs that complement each other, while still being in a different niche from each other. That's the beauty of the great variety of programs out there.

We'll take a quick look here at three affiliate programs to give you an overview of what they provide. Two are article marketing affiliate programs and one is a bookselling and other merchandise affiliate program. While just a small sampling of what is out there, these will give you an idea of how affiliate programs operate.

The article distribution service called iSnare has a basic affiliate or referral program. In essence, their affiliate program earns you credits so you do not have to pay to get your own article writing efforts distributed by them. iSnare charges a fee to submit articles for affiliate marketers and others. However, if you become an affiliate and promote their service you can forgo these fees.

Here's how it works. For each person you refer to iSnare who registers and purchases distribution credits, you earn credits. If someone purchases a five article distribution package, you will receive a free article distribution yourself. If someone, you refer, purchases a forty article distribution package you will receive six free article distributions. In this way, you can perform an article marketing campaign and pay little or nothing for it, as your referrals pay your way. iSnare does not pay in actual cash each month to an affiliate.

Amazon.com has a referral program. Affiliates in their program receive up to fifteen percent commission on sales they refer. They offer a performance-fee pay structure or a classic fee structure. With the performance based option the higher your referrals, the greater your earnings will be. Their classic fee structure is a fixed-referral-rate plan. You earn a four percent referral fee on items offered by Amazon or by third parties.

Amazon.com pays their affiliate partners on a monthly basis. They provide their affiliates a portal where they can view traffic and earnings reports. It's a place where affiliates can read the latest news and opportunities available to them. They update this portal daily so the information is current. Amazon.com provides their affiliates formatted links, which they can put on their websites or blogs.

Article Marketer, an article distribution service, has their affiliate program. They offer multi-tier commissions to their affiliate members. As an affiliate with them, you will earn twenty-five percent commissions on any Article Marketer subscription sales you generate. You will also earn a five percent commission whenever someone you refer as an affiliate makes a sale.

Article Marketer gives credit for commissionable sales to an affiliate whenever they occur. If one of your customers comes back a year later to purchase, you still get credit for the sale. They offer real time tracking of your orders and commissions as well. In addition, Article Marketer pays their affiliate members on a monthly basis.

When it comes to promoting Article Marketer on your websites and blogs, the company offers many tools. They provide banners, linking codes, special offers, and promotions. They also provide their affiliates sales copy, articles, news items, and more to help build sales. On top of all that, Article Marketer has their Affiliate Marketers Blog where discussion of important marketing topics takes place.

With the myriad of affiliate programs available, you have to do your homework. You will expend time and effort in your affiliate marketing business. Make sure your time and effort is with an affiliate program that gives you the tools, commissions, and support you need to succeed.

Tips On Starting Your Own Home Business

Tips On Starting Your Own Home Business
Download Free Copy Of WAHM Guide
Many people think that once they become their own boss they will work less, have less stress and more money. Unfortunately for most would-be entrepreneurs they don't buy a business but instead buy a job.
Here are some tips that will increase your chances of being in the 5% of businesses that succeed:

1. Find Your Passion
Don't just jump on the "next big thing" and put all of your time, money and energy into a project you are not passionate about. Take the time to work out what you are passionate about. What do you like doing? What could you talk about for hours? Even if you haven't liked your previous jobs look at aspects of those jobs you actually enjoyed.

2. Research
Once you find what you are passionate about then you must research that area to find solutions for other people's problems or perhaps an area currently not being addressed well, if at all

3. Business structure
Contact your accountant to ensure that the structure of your business is right from day 1 whether it be a company, partnership etc.

4. Prioritise
To work from home requires focus and excellent time management. At the end of each day write down the tasks you need to complete the next day - in order of importance. If there is something you keep avoiding then put that at the top of your list. Make sure that anything you did not complete is the first thing on your new task list for the next day. Make sure you allow for time with your children. If you don't have children then be time specific when you break down your day. However any mother or father knows that children always find a way to interrupt our plans so a list is the best way to manage time for parents.

5. Promote
Don't be ashamed to promote and market your new business. Of course there are the normal ways of classified ads (both online and offline), pay per click advertising, business cards, emails...to name just a few. But don't underestimate the power of word of mouth. How can people help you if they don't know your business? You will be surprised how many doors open up to you just by talking to people you know.

Owning your own business can be challenging but it is very rewarding. The most important thing is to simply give it a go. Don't spend your life wishing you had have done something rather than sitting on the sidelines watching life pass you by.

Is MSN Better for Business than Google?

Is MSN Better for Business than Google?
Download Free Copy Of Internet Business For Newbies
Most search engine comparison tables will show you usage statistics that are something like this:

64% Google

14% Yahoo

14% MSN

08% AOL, All the Web, and all others combined

Those are simple search engine usage statistics. While they might be accurate as far as how much a search engine is used there is a much bigger picture to consider, especially if you own a business Website.

Let me give you an example. I just met with a local florist last month to help him figure out why his pay-per-click numbers seemed so skewed. Although 70% of his visits came from Google Adsense, only 30% of his sales came from those leads. While MSN only supplied 28% of his traffic, it generated 64% of his sales. That's almost exactly opposite what you would assume. Why is this?

There are a number of reasons but here are the main ones...

1) MSN is the default search engine on any new Windows installation. With more people aged 55 plus getting new computers, they generally stick with the default home page of MSN.com.

2) MSN is often the preferred choice for many small business owners and working professionals due to the information available at a glance on the MSN.com home page, such as stock info, breaking news, and anything else you want to customize.

3) MSN has a higher number of users in the age specific financial sweet zones of 34 to 54 and 55 plus than Yahoo or Google. MSN also has more income earners between $30K and $100K than Google or Yahoo.

And a bit more generally, Google seems to be the cool place where kids, teens and tweens go for info. That's perfect if your business caters to this market but if you're looking for the credit card holder who has better stuff to do than surf the Web and wants to make the purchase and move on, then MSN is a good bet.

So how can you start to benefit in time for the holidays? (And yes. I know Thanksgiving is this week.) Here are your best two bets:

The Pay Per Click Method

You can setup an adCenter account at https://adcenter.microsoft.com/ and start getting targeted traffic right away. The drawback of course, is that you are paying for leads. The upside is that the chances of having kids click on your links just out of curiosity are pretty slim.

Organic Search Engine Optimization

MSN is the easiest search engine of all to get natural search engine ranking on and one of the more famous SEO experts, Dave Kelly, even developed a method specifically to get on top of MSN quickly, called Search Engine Loophole http://www.SELoophole.com ($67.) BTW, I found it also works on Yahoo for quick top 3 results.

So, to summarize, it's worth it to take a closer look at MSN. While it might not be the most popular in the world, chances are it is popular with those who want to buy what you are selling.
